JAFF Author Information and Expectations

A Happy Assembly (AHA) is first, and foremost, an all volunteer fan fiction community that is only as good as the members who participate in the forums. It is a place where people with an interest in Jane Austen, her works, and Jane Austen Fan Fiction (JAFF) interact and share that interest with each other in a set of forums.

A Happy Assembly welcomes Jane Austen Fan Fiction writers who wish to participate as members of our community, as well as contributing by posting stories at AHA. If as an author you have no intentions of posting stories at AHA, please note that the below information still pertains to you. If you enjoy AHA and wish to try your hand at writing JAFF, we welcome you.

A Happy Assembly / MLS is a Non-Profit organization and we do not allow for any commercial links, promotions, or solicitation.

What AHA expects of its member authors:
– Follow the Author Guidelines as posted within AHA.
– Encourage reader participation in your story comment thread(s).
– Community involvement and participation on the AHA forums. AHA appreciates its authors and the community enjoys having stories remain available to its members long-term.

What member authors can expect from AHA: 
– A secure, password protected, members-only site to protect our authors’ work.
– Engaged admins and moderators available to answer questions and aid in communicating with members when needed.
– A large membership base as an audience for our authors’ stories.

What AHA is not:
– It is not a place to build an audience for your upcoming published book.
– It is not a place to promote for-profit endeavors be they books, websites, or other promotional activities, etc.
– It is not a  place to use our members’ talents as cold readers or editors.
– It is not a place for authors to lift plots or ideas or characters or anything else from stories posted at A Happy Assembly. AHA authors retain their full copyright on their stories posted at AHA, regardless if the story is published outside of AHA or not.
– Please keep in mind that Meryton Literary Society (MLS), Meryton.com and A Happy Assembly (AHA) are not associated with any publishing companies.

Past AHA or MRR or PL Authors
– If you are no longer a member of AHA and you have a story posted that you wish to have taken down, please use the Contact form.
